Holly Pumpkins Batman!

Maybe it's the fact that they are the same shade as my legs or maybe because I tried to grow them but failed miserably, but I have a special place in my heart for white pumpkins. Yea, weird...I know. I found these awesome candle holders at Goodwill last night and decided that they would make marvelous pumpkin holders. We'll see how long these last (my bet is about three seconds once Brody catches eye of them) I painted some swirly things on them for added glamor....because heaven knows we all need a little glamor. They'll look even more stunning once carved and lighted!

Falling into inspiration

Taking a brief break to 1. clean my art room (this may be a long break!) and 2. make some yummy fall treats.

I'm fairly certain I'm not the only artist that has trouble sleeping at night because of all the projects and ideas dancing around in my brain, as well as my muse doing her own break dance. I keep a small notebook by my bed for sleepless nights, so I can jot down ideas or thoughts. Fall is my favorite time of year and with it comes lots of ideas for projects. I will continue to work with windows, but move on to something smaller for autumn. Going to re-use, re-cycle and re-furbish found things into beautiful art. With that being said....I'm off to Goodwill :)

I'd love to hear your fall ideas!

A Success!

I couldn't have asked for a better day (the rain stayed away until the moment I got the final window in the car!) I sold about six windows and have a few leads on some people who are interested in commissioned pieces. I found another jackpot of windows and I got to say hello to these lovely ladies who make marvelous artwork as well.

I'll try to update the blog and post photos of what I have left! Thank you to everyone who stopped by, bought art or just said hello. I can't wait to do it again next year. However....I will do a few things differently 1. learn how to put up the tent as to not embarrass myself prior to the start of the festivities 2. recruit burly strong men to help me carry my artwork and/or tables (mom, you are one strong lady!) 3. Bring food (the walking taco at 11am did not hold me over, even though it was pretty yummy!) I'm also looking for new venues (stores, galleries, art fests) to showcase these bad boys.

If you took my card, I hope to hear from you too! Thanks for stopping by!

Love Letters.

Love Letters. ($150)
Yes, those are hand written love letters in the background. Not mine of course (those are hidden in a shoe box) but from famous composers like Beethoven and Bach and literary figures and a few random song lyrics thrown in there.

More mini fall creations

Bluebird.

No more room.
Birthing Hips. (seriously)
Red Tree.

Oh yea baby. I'm on a roll. These are all for sale, they're on quality art paper and unframed. The size of the paper is 6x9, but can be matted or cropped to fit in an 8x10 frame or 5x7 mat. Got all that? They're $25 each.

Small is the new Big.

Sexy Apple. Acrylic on heavy art paper. ($25) unframed ($35 ) framed
Deeply Rooted. Unframed ($25) Framed ($35) Acrylic/Collage
Here are all four that I finished today!
Owl Tree. Unframed ($25) Framed ($35) Collage/Acrylic on heavy art paper.
A Thing for Pears. ($35) Framed.

So I was thinking....why so big? I've been investing so much time and energy into these huge windows that are beautiful but big and sometimes awkward (kind of like my hiney) So I've gone mini. Invested in some canvases, frames and heavy acrylic art paper with hopes and dreams of finishing a few smaller works before the art show. Let me know how you like them!

Whoooooooooo do you love?

I was feeling in a fall mood today. I actually got the idea for this one after reading a vintage children's book to Baylor. Those are owl's (just in case you were having troubles identifying!) For some strange reason, this window frame is a lot heavier than the rest....hmmmmm ($150)

Frank

Meet Frank. He's an African Grey. I was commissioned to do this piece for an old high school friend who currently lives in New York. Can't say that I've ever done a pet portrait before, and it was quite challenging. I'm not a big fan of reality (who isn't?) and I tried to make Frank look as true to himself as possible. It's on canvas too, so that was another challenge. Frank's owner seems to like it, so off it will go in the mail on Tuesday. Wish him luck...I have also never mailed art before.

Apples to Apples

Welcoming fall! Apples to Apples ($200) Acrylic/paint pen/window
...and now for more pressing matters. What color shall I paint this bad boy? It has a white tin top with a black stripe around it. I'm going to use it as a kid's art table. Ideas?
