It's been a while!

(Christmas Vacation, 2' by 2' canvas $75)

Well hello there!  It's Christmas break for me! Hooray!  I had some "spare" art time and whipped out this canvas.  It has TONS of colors it and would look fabulous in any room.

I've been finishing custom orders for local friends (thank you!) and will be working on putting together another local show or open house for the spring.  I really have only a few windows left (but they are awesome) so let me know if you're looking for something amazingly special.  I am still taking orders if you are close enough to pick up, it's mailing them that really throws me for a loop.

As far as custom orders, I will be taking them as soon as school is over (end of May) I know, I'm sorry for the delay, but my family and work come first and with all of our activities, it leaves me zero time to get quality art done and maintain my sanity.  Thank you for being patient!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and start the new year off well!  I appreciate all of my fans and followers on Facebook and Pinterest.  You guys rock.  I hope I can inspire you to creating something wonderful of your own!

Murals!

The only art I have time for now days is the art on my classroom walls (which is fine by me!) Here is the back wall with Elmer the art elephant blowing colorful bubbles.  The one below is the front wall of my classroom.  It's huge birch trees with colorful leaves.  I can use it to teach the kids about the color wheel too!
The class is coming together and I am so blessed to now have the space for my kids be to creative!

Dresser!

This amazingly wonderful and very girlie dresser was painted by my friend Kim Dean.  She's super talented (and super humble about it too) and painted this dresser to be auctioned off to raise money for a family trying to raise money to adopt.  She's still figuring out an asking price, but if you're interested in purchasing this sweet piece of furniture, just leave a comment with your email and I will have her get a hold of you!  It's a win win situation.....you get a beautiful dresser AND you're helping a family raise money to adopt a beautiful child.

Lincoln Highway 2012!

Get excited!  It's Lincoln Highway Arts Fest time!! Woo hoo!  Saturday September 22, from 9-4pm in Uptown Mt.Vernon, Iowa.  Totally worth the road trip.  We have around 40 artists lining the streets with their pottery, fabric, paintings, photography, jewelry, sculptures, fiber art...you name it!  Live music by Kodiak Flats too.  You will love it.

I will be there with a load of windows, a few signs and some smaller framed artwork.  Hope to see you there!

New Windows for LHAF!

(Golden, smaller window $75)
Life have been anything but calm.  Between starting school and organizing lessons to the THREE birthday parties (I thought planning babies being born in August would be a good idea!) I have had little time to do things that involve a paintbrush (unless it's helping a student)  Since I have an extra day tomorrow because of Labor Day, I spend the entire afternoon painting for the Lincoln Highway Arts Festival (Saturday September 22, 9-4pm) Here are my latest creations that will be for sale!
 (Northern Lights, $100)
 (Funky Peacock, Cornell Window $150)
 (Flowers, smaller window, $75)
 (I lost my marbles, $135)
These signs will be for sale ONLY at the arts fest!

I know some of you have been waiting for me to take orders again, but I'm still going to wait a while.  It's just too much to paint and then get them all mailed.  Thanks for being patient!

Art break update

Hello friends and fans! It's been a while.

Here is an update on my art making status.

I'm still working on getting settled teaching at my new school and need some extra time to be with my family after school.  Since I'm teaching K-8th and a high school class, my brain is on overdrive pretty much 24/7.  I'm going to put ordering signs on hold until you hear from me (hopefully later this fall!) So check back with me (this blog or Facebook) to see when I'm back.

If you're local, I may be able to get some windows done.

Thank you for being understanding and patient!  It's great to know the demand for creative things is still high :)

I will have some signs and windows for sale at the LINCOLN HIGHWAY ART FEST on Saturday September 22, form 9-4pm uptown Mt.Vernon.  Great event!

Art break :)

Hey all!  I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be taking a wee little break from making signs and custom art this month (August) I need to focus on getting my class in order, my family on a routine (my husband a job!) and giving my students my attention.  Never fear, I shall return shortly!  Thanks for your patience and understanding.  If you've ordered in the last week, I will get those done as soon as possible!

I will be here with my windows:

Saturday August 11, 2012 (9-5pm) 202 East Main (my house :) Art in the Yard sale!

Family Tree wall mural

I was asked (a while ago) to do a family tree mural for a family that lived near by.  I have been super swamped with orders and putting my new classroom in order that I had been putting it off.  Finally this morning, I got to paint it for them.  I think it turned out pretty cool! They're going to put family photos all throughout the tree limbs.  I might just have to steal this idea!

Here is ginormous window that I couldn't pass up.  It's HUGE. 5.5' by 4'3'' and 24 panes.  I haven't figured out what to do with it, I'm hoping for a special order! It was so big it wouldn't fit in my car so my buddy Dennis had to drop it off. Thanks Dennis!
I have an obsession with TOMS shoes. I ordered these thinking they would be a nice orange.....instead they are traffic cone neon orange.  I think I shall be returning them, I'm not ready to go back to the 80's.

Prices

It pains me to have to raise prices, but due to a high volume of sign orders and shipping costs rising, I'm going to have to.  If you ordered in the past week your price will be what I quoted you.  Prices will be different if you pick up your artwork.  As of TODAY (July 25, 2012) these will be the prices on the signs.......sorry for any inconvenience!

1. 10'' by 24'' signs $50 (that includes shipping/handling)
2. 2' by 2' thin birch wood signs, $80 (that includes shipping and handling)
3. 12'' by 4' long sign, $85 (that includes shipping/handling)

I'd like to do as many orders as I can before school starts because once it does, I will have to slow down or I might just keel over.  Thanks for understanding!

Leftovers

A 2' by 2' classroom sign for a special classroom.
Smaller window with light purple frame and two red lovebirds in the trees.  $65
Smaller window with green frame ($50)
This sign will eventually have hooks on it and will hold a family's wrestling medals!
 Yep, he is.  ($40)
Even though it's a little empty now, this will soon be filled with fingerprints from this couple's wedding.  (on canvas $45)

I hate wasting paint and this is what I came up with after I had a palette full of leftover paint.  It's funky. $50. Legs not included.

Labels make me happy: Art room sneak peek!

I'm giving you a little sneak peek into my newly painted and cleaned and organized art room.  I've been camped out for the past few weeks working on everything from lesson plans to making sweet signs to hang up.  Every time I go in to work, I leave with 123123 more things to do.  It's beginning to come together and I am SO excited to start school.  It will be here before we know it!

In case you haven't' figured it out. I am a label nerd.  I want to know what is in the containers and I want my students to learn how to put things back where they belong.  I still haven't gotten my own children to do this, so we'll see!

I'm doing an owl theme in the classroom. It may be a wee bit girly, but when you're surrounded by boys that's what happens!

Paint chip border. Best idea ever.  I'm headed to Wally World today to "borrow" some more.
There are six tables and each table will have on person who is the "floor captain" or "sink captain" Everyone will help clean up, but this person has a special job.  When the table is clean and quiet, they will get to line up first.

I bought these lanterns at Target on the clearance rack. LOVE them.  This bulletin board will also serve as our "proud wall" to display the student's artwork!

More to come.....lots more.
