Friday Five: Creative Websites to visit

Greetings from Atlanta!

65 and sunny.

Blooming flowers and sweet Georgia accents.

Love it. Except for on my vacation I am stuck in a hotel room with strep throat. Boo.

For your Friday reading pleasure, here are the Friday Five!

Music was my first love, and it will be my last

Music was my first love
and it will be my last.
Music of the future
and music of the past.
To live without my music,
would be impossible to do,
it in this world of troubles
my music gets me through.

A Family of owls

I have hired a guard to protect my coffee.

Not really, but this is what I found next to my cup of Joe this morning.

Yee Haw.
Another two ft by two feet creation. A family of brightly colored and funky owls ($65 + shipping)

I can add family names or initials to this one...I haven't sealed it yet!

Friday Five: Creative websites to visit...FOOD, yum.

Creativity isn't just for artwork.

It can be in the kitchen too.  (I need all the help I can get!) It turns out that I can turn a piece of anything into a beautiful work of art BUT when it comes to being creative in the kitchen, I stare blankly into my fridge.....

Here are some creative cooking websites:

2. http://thisweekfordinner.com/

Enjoy, and go get your fork.

"New" table

Here is the "new" dining room table that I sanded, primed and painted for a little vintage farm house feel. Thanks to our awesome neighbor who gives us furniture for this sweet find.
Next project: FOUR chairs! Let the hunting begin.

{What Inspires}

I am a firm believe that God has given everyone a bit of creativity.
They are inspired daily.
It may be minuscule but it's there.
It may be overflowing.
What inspires you?
Sometimes I hear a song and the way the music flows or the lyrics of the song speak to me.
I can't sleep at night.
I toss and turn.
I have to get my ideas in paint or in writing.
Then it is sweet release.
In the form of art.
It may not be pretty.
It may not be life shattering.
That doesn't matter to me.
It was created.
I love it.
(okay, sometimes I hate it)
I am also a firm  believe in creative therapy.
Finding what makes you tick.
Painting.
Singing.
Making music.
Writing.
Re-doing.
Find a passion.
Do it.
{You'll thank me later}

Thumb print tree

What a brilliant idea! I wish I would have thought of this for my wedding.  You see the blank tree (above) with the couple's name and wedding date below (can also be for graduations, birthday, anniversary, family tree...you name it!) Your guests then take their thumb prints (in ink) and stamp them on the tree as leaves! Then they sign them....very tiny of course.  This one is 2ft by 2ft and on thin wood so it can be framed later.  (Starting at $40)

Here are some more examples of thumb print trees!

You spin me right round....

Every time I sell a window (hip hip hooray) I have to replace it with something new and exciting. The perks of having lots and lots of artwork all around the house.  I can change them whenever I'm feeling like new scenery! I'm loving these flowers in my kitchen, makes me long for summer!
On a circle kick today. Retro Circles ($75) The detail on this is really cool, but you have to see it up close.
2ft by 2ft wooden panel/collage on vintage dictionary sheets ($65) You Spin Me Right Round.
Here is Jessie's window....finished! She wanted the lyrics to two songs (I Love LA and My Kind of Town) on either side of the panes.

Buffet:Before and After

Before: The worn out and banged up buffet.
After: The much loved and needed buffet. All of the boys games and art supplies are neatly stored away inside! (Someday I'll actually act grown up enough for fancy dishes)

Decisions, Decisions!

Decision #1: What color should the flowers be? Background? My brain is on vacation today.
This has absolutely nothing to do with decisions, except for clearly I like sharpies and decide to buy a lot of them.
Decision #2: Scored the awesome buffet at an antique store today. I've been searching for one forever (for a good price) and this one was just that.  It's pretty banged up and I think I want to paint it black matte (with cream primer and then distress it, add new knobs) BUT someone in the family likes it this way. I'm stumped....what do you think?

Divine Romance

The fullness of Your grace is here with me
The richness of Your beauty’s all I see
The brightness of Your glory has arrived
In Your presence God, I’m completely satisfied

For You I sing I dance
Rejoice in this divine romance
Lift my heart and my hands
To show my love, to show my love

A deep deep flood, an Ocean flows from You
Of deep deep love, yeah it’s filling up the room
Your innocent blood, has washed my guilty life
In Your presence God I’m completely satisfied

Grow Happy ($50)

Wrinkly poppies

....or if you're Nickie, it's Wrinkly Poopies.

I think the wrinkles add texture (just like ones on my face right? ) $65

Beginning to have a love affair with maps. Love them.

You're such a pansy

This window can be hung in any direction.  Can you tell I'm dreaming of summer? ($100)
This window is for a friend who is originally from Chicago and is moving to California.  I took a map of Illinois and disassembled it to fit into the state of CA.  Hope she likes it!
