Chalk the Walk 2010

Oh it's that time of year again! I am so excited to get to do another (this is my fourth year!) square at CHALK THE WALK this year.

I usually share a square with my fellow artist and good friend Diane who just had a sweet baby girl, Avery. She is going to come visit and we may steal her for a little bit to help us chalk. My former student and friend Keely is going to help me this year. And as always, I am waiting until the last minute to pick something to do. I wanted to do something original, but I may end up doing something from a famous artist. I'm taking all suggestions!

This year it's Saturday May 1st and Sunday the 2nd. I will have to leave early to play my cornet in a concert on Sunday, so hopefully we can finish. I will also have all of my windows there for sale.....or at least most of them! We'll see how man can fit in the Carolla trunk!

Fly away home

This piece is in honor of my father in law, who recently and suddenly passed away. It has the words to the song Homesick, by Mercy Me written on the hearts. It's called Fly Away Home because we know that Mike has flown away to heaven and we can't wait to see him when we get there! ($75)

Sweet cheeks

Red Birds. Large window with eight panes. Clear background (can be painted to match a room however!) $75
My nickname (to some) is sweet cheeks. I will not go into why that is true, but I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that I wouldn't turn down these cupcakes :) Small window ($75)

Bad romance

Got a surprise in the mail yesterday! This sweet t-shirt that says, "Artists love to draw attention." It's from one of my former art students, such a sweet and creative young lady. Thanks Keely, I love it!
I have been sitting and staring at this little window for some time now. It's smaller and can easily be hung on a wall. The trees are meticulously cut out from old romance novels with my exacto knife (my new passion!) No fingers were injured in the creation of this artwork. I haven't come up with a catchy title yet, maybe Bad Romance? Romancing the Trees? I don't know....my coffee hasn't kicked in yet. ($75)

Mmmmm cupcakes

Could you tell that I was super hungry when painting this piece? Hungry for sugar. Hungry for cupcakes. Can someone open a cute little cupcake boutique around here, please?

I take that back. My butt would never be the same.
