Friday Five (even though my mere technicality, it's Saturday)

Technically. When you're home alone with two little boys the days blur together (among other things)

Winter has made a comeback in the form of snow and ice (boo) and it's days like these where I wish I had a fireplace, laptop and wireless internet.

*sigh* Complaining aside, here are some great links for your weekend parusing!

Hallelujah By and By

This piece is 2ft by 2ft on a wooden panel with a map (of part of Illinois if you're curious)
Since I took the name I'll Fly Away for another piece, this one is called Hallelujah By and By ($65)
Looking too good on my wall, I fear that I am getting too attached......

Funky little baby

It's really much cooler than the photo shows.  It's 2ft by 2 ft and has black edges.  The background is vintage magazine pages, white washed, stained and sealed.  ($65) It's lighter than a window and can be mailed!

Luka's Lily Pad

I got the honor of painting this cute little table, stools and sign for a family who had recently lost their little baby, Luka.  She was a still born baby and they wanted to have something that other children can love and remember her by.  I can't even begin to try to imagine how painful that must have been.  I was fortunate enough to be a small part of this project.  They will be put up in a clinic in Hiawatha for little eyes (and rear ends) to enjoy and play with!

I'll fly away

Thank you Craigslist for a massive pile of periwinkle and white windows (without frames!) Even though it was a tad on the sketchy part of town, I managed to get in, grab the windows and get out.  Here is the first creation on the "new" window panes.  I'll Fly Away ($75)

Ready for spring!

Love's fire heats water, water cools not love.

No want of conscience hold it that I call,
Her love, for whose dear love I rise and fall.
Be as thy presence is gracious and kind,
Or to thy self at least kind-hearted prove,
Make thee another self for love of me,
That beauty still may live in thine or thee.

If I could write the beauty of your eyes,
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate...
My love shall in my verse ever live young.
Which steals men's eyes and women's souls amazeth.
And for a woman wert thou first created...
O let me true in love but truly write...
More than that tongue that more hath more expressed.
O learn to read what silent love hath writ,
To hear with eyes belongs to love's fine wit.

Then happy I that love and am beloved
Where I may not remove nor be removed.
To show me worthy of thy sweet respect,
Then may I dare to boast how I do love thee,
Till then, not show my head where thou mayst prove me...
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
(Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth) sings hymns at heaven's gate,
For thy sweet love remembered such wealth brings....
Their images I loved, I view in thee,
And thou (all they) hast all the all of me...

Look what is best, that best I wish in thee,
This wish I have, then ten times happy me.

Funky?

Not so sure how I feel about this one yet. I'm in serious need of paint and also in serious need of funds! So the paint will wait until I sell some more artwork! This one has no name......yet!

Another window artist friend of mine are looking to do a show together in the spring to showcase our window art.  We need a fairly large venue (indoors would be sweet in case of rain) and in the Cedar Rapids/Coralville/North Liberty/Iowa City/Mt.Vernon area! Let me know if you have any ideas!!
