See you Soon!

These paintings were so hard to do but in a bittersweet kind of way. Two friends approached me about creating something for a family who had just lost their 16 year old son. They wanted the paintings to have significance and things that he loved (like nature, birch trees, the lake, etc) The big one at the top with the bird flying away is called See you Soon! How comforting to know that someday they will see him in heaven! The second has the verse Philippians 1:3-6 and it talks about remembrance and carrying out the work Jesus set us out to do. It's called Remembrance. I really hope the family enjoys them and can find some comfort when they look at them on their wall.

Color!

These two paintings are done for a family that has a HUGE wall. Their last name starts with an, "O" (obviously!) and she is going to use this canvas as well as photos of her kiddos and a saying to help decorate the enormous wall. She gave me one of her pillows so I could try to match it. The landscape on the top was done on a recycled frame and painting...see what you can do with old stuff?
Funky Flag ($75) Done on a vintage double paned window with the lyrics of the Star Spangled Banner behind it! This would add some bold color to any neutral colored room!
Haven't figured out a name for this one but I was in a colorful mood today. It can be hung horizontal or vertical. ($75)

Did someone say coffee?

My buddy and local librarian Amy was getting rid of a TON of old frames and glass so I am in the process of recycling them into awesome artwork! This is abstract flowers ($50) Ready to hang, glass and much lighter than windows!
Got this at a garage sale for .75 and painted it red. Matches the kitchen too! Love me a good bread box!

A few shots

I'm working on perfecting a watermark for my photos...this looks just awful, but at least the photo is gorgeous! This is down the street from our house after a rain storm. Makes you realize how amazing God's wonders really are.

Gifts!

Lacrosse coach meets nurse....hence the lacrosse stick and ball and the stethoscope hanging on the sign. This is a wedding gift. 8x10 in watercolor.
Well poo. It's supposed to be turned the other way.....just turn your head....there you go. This is for a dear friend and stand mate who is retiring from his job as head of laundry at Uof I. He is a phenomenal cornet player as well. Happy Retirement Dave!

Funky flowers and lemons

This is for a friend. She is putting it above her buffet in the dining room. She also has three kids, so three lemons (although her kids are so sweet NOT lemons!) was appropriate!

This bad boy is tall. Colors are orange, red, teal and lime. ($100)

It will also be available at Heritage Days art in the park (or street) on July 9th and 10th in Mount Vernon!

Taking over the kitchen table

My "studio" space includes the mudroom, which also serves as a makeshift dog/garage/tool shed/storage room and the kitchen table. Today I invaded the space and don't think we'll be eating there for dinner. Perhaps a picnic in the living room?
This is a sign to be hung outside on someone's patio. They love wine hence the quote. Hope they like it!
A mish-mash of scraps and paintings and drawings that will someday be incorporated into some artwork....just not sure when i'll find the time or energy to get to it!

Deeply Rooted

First things first. Here is a new load of windows (Thank you Micah and Diane) that are perfect. They're smaller and skinny (which are hard to find) If you see one you like, you'd better snatch it up fast!
These are some of the hymns that are in the roots of a new piece commissioned for Dan and Liz's wedding. It's called deeply rooted for a good reason.!

Little Man Tate

This stool is for a little boy named Tate. I have one similar (with trains) for my two boys. They are very sturdy and we use them for potty stools and hand washing stools. It's covered with a clear coat so the paint stays on longer. My airplane needs some help......
