Here are some illustrations that I did recently. They are on old dictionary pages and are for sale up at Penns and Needles in Mt.Vernon. She also has some pretty amazing quilts, jewelry and fabric. Makes me wish I could sew.

This is one of my favorite hymns, "His Eye is on the Sparrow." The words are so simple yet powerful. This is an 8x10 on watercolor paper....it may be spoken for! ($45 framed)

I know this is really hard to see, but it turned out great. It's headed to Georgia!

Thumbprint tree guest book!

Wedding season is just around the corner! Here is a thumbprint tree that I made for a couple getting married in July. Each guest will use waterproof ink and stamp their thumbs on the tree as leaves. They'll then put their names by each leaf. The finished product is going to be great! This can be framed after all of the prints are on it....AND you can use it if any of your guests get rowdy during the reception. You'll have fingerprint proof! (From $30-$50)

I can also make a balloon thumbprint guest book (the guests thumbs are the balloons and the couple is in a hot air balloon basket) Way cool.

My sweet husband surprised me this week by bringing home a framed copy of the newspaper article that featured my artwork. He told me it was for my new "studio"....whenever and wherever that may be! I'm hoping soon....still looking!

This is my son in his garment of choice....a life jacket.....planking. Weirdo.

My other "hobby" is playing the cornet. I am lucky enough to play in The Eastern Iowa Brass Band with some very talented musicians. We have a competition coming up and practicing has taken over my "free" time.

These are special order for John over at http://www.johncarlsonmusic.com He has two cats that "hunt" in the garage and they needed some signs to put on the door indicating whether or not the cats were in there. The paw prints are made of chalkboard paint, so they can simply put a check mark on them when the cats are doing their hunting.

I was lucky enough to have some very large storm windows donated by a guy who lives just down the street. I finally picked them up and he wasn't joking when he said they were big. Here is what I have and the measurements, get your orders in soon!

Our church's youth room was lacking a little and needed some serious loving. It had some couches sans 1974 and some technicolor walls (no offense to the previous wall painters) There was cardboard pieces over the windows and holes in the wall (as most youth rooms do have!) So Janet (that pretty lady in the photo below that doesn't know she's on the internet yet) and myself took on the HUGE challenge of redecorating this enormous room where all of the youth hang out. We wanted it to be cool (of course) uplifting and not make you nauseous when you walked into it. So we went with an industrial and retro kind of look with road signs on the walls (it's legal, don't worry!) and some really cool spaces for the kids to hang out. We're not completely done, but here are some photos of what we've done so far.

New blinds on the wall thanks to Budget Blinds. A perfect shade of gray! Along with our fabulous stop sign that was purchased from Alice's Wonderland here in Mt.Vernon. We love to shop local!

You can't see it very well but one of our awesome church goers donated some stainless steel panels for the front wall. I'll have to get a better photo of it later. Another fantastic volunteer painted this chalk board wall on the front. I then worked my magic with a Sharpie Pen......two and a half hours later......VOILA!

I wanted the verses and words to be uplifting and hopefully mean something to the students that walked into these doors. I think it turned out pretty well, don't you!?

So if you're in the market for some verbiage on a wall in your house....call me, baby.

I have been overwhelmed by sign orders (which is a good thing!) this past week. It seems like people are talking (also a good thing) and through their recommendations (thank you!) I have been up to my eyeballs in signs! I've done three signs for three different photographers to hang in their studios!

Here is the massive set up....I had TONS of art. TONS I tell you.

One of these tents is not like the others, one of these tents just isn't the same......

I know, I know. I was a bit ghetto, but I don't have a garage to store big white art tent.

This was BEFORE the 10% chance of showers started. That 10% turned into a downpour over Mt.Vernon in the afternoon. I was lucky to have some friends with tarps and towels helping me! Despite the rain, I had a great turn out and I did the best I've ever done at a festival! God is good.

My mom came to help me. She was a wee bit cold in the morning. I don't know what I would have done without her. She helped me set up the tent, cover the art when it rained and most importantly she ran and got me a cappuccino. Mom, you rock.

Here is a final look a the three cabinet doors that I was given. One for each grand daughter/daughter from the grandmother's kitchen cabinets. Pretty cool. I was honored to be able to do this for the family. Hope they like it!

I finally finished my fest fall wreath and hung it on the front door.....with duct tape. Duct tape can fix (or hang) anything. I also scared the bejebees out of myself when I walked by the door at night and saw the wreath....I thought it was a person.

This was my weekend project! I scored this metal storage locker at a garage sale for a whopping $1. I know, it was quite the financial sacrifice. Spray paint was $3.79 for a grand total of about $5. Voila! New shoe/key/mail storage locker for the door!

As an artist there are certain subjects I stay away from. Like people. They end up looking mutant or like a cartoon. I came to the realization that my people don't have to look like people. They have to look like whatever I want. There are no rules for people painting (or at least none that I am aware of!) This painting took some guts. You can laugh now, but I am super self conscious about lots of things in my life and painting people is one of them. So I bit the bullet. I think she came out rather nice!
