Thank you teachers!

These two funky houses are for my son's preschool teachers. I raided the neighbor's garage and found a bunch of cool looking wood that they were going to throw out. I was also in quite the panic this morning when I saw other moms bringing in flowers and gifts.....I had totally forgotten the last day of preschool! Eeek! So this is what I came up with in a hurry. I think the idea might stick!

Love your enemies!

When I was younger, I had a girl that would always bully me at school. My mom told me to kill her with kindness and to love her and it would drive her crazy. I thought she was nuts at the time, but it worked! I tried something different for this one, I used oil pastels and sealed it with Modge Podge (love the stuff) ($35)
This is a gift for a friend of a friend. Her story is pretty sweet and she is one courageous lady. Hope she likes it!

Itty bitty window

Seriously wish I could sleep like this.
This is a welcome sign for a mother who loves owls. Happy birthday!
This is one of these itty bitty windows that I snagged (thank you Nickie!) Love them. Four Poppies ($75) I'd give you the dimensions if I could find a measuring device.

New bathroom

So on a whim (most of my creativity comes from a whim) I decided that the previously very patriotic bathroom needed some updating. I'm not sure what I was smoking when I painted it the first time (seriously though, I don't smoke!) Now it's a nice shade of greenish brown for a whopping $4! I love miss matched paint. On to the next room......

Friday Five: Creative websites to visit

It's FINALLY sunny out! After five days on rain and gloom and cold, the sun has decided to shine. In celebration, I give you the Friday Five.

Guitar Hero

I seem to be on a guitar kick recently. I guess it's because I've always wanted to play one. I'll stick to my cornet, thank you :) This is a huge window and it's double paned ($125) It would look pretty awesome in a boy room or music room!
Publish PostThis is a pretty sweet window as well. It's longer, but with two perfect squares. I love it. Can you tell I needed to use up all of the purple? I hate wasting paint! ($75)

Rock on!

This window was a Mother's Day gift special order (from her husband) Hope she liked it! It was fun to make. I hear it's going in a room with red walls, I'm sure that will look amazing!
In case you haven't figured out that this is a trombone....it's not finished yet....but it will be soon!

This is a commissioned piece for a percussion player. He said his walls were very empty and blah....so I fixed that!
...and a 20x24 canvas that Denise ordered after she saw this.....(see below photo)
Rock on.

This is for Lisa and her daughter who plays the viola (this is a viola folks!) It's 30x40 (hugemongous) and it's going to go in her music room....that is, if she likes it! Hope she likes it!!

Chalk, chalk baby

Eight hours and one sore body later, we have a finished product! This usually takes two days, but since I have a brass band concert today (Sunday) My friend Keely (she didn't know what she was getting into!) and I finished in about 8 hours. We tried to replicate a Georgia O'Keffee Poppy painting. I think it turned out beautifully and we had great weather and a great turnout! I sold about four windows with two more orders for some! I had a blast as usual and can't wait for Chalk the Walk 2011! Thanks to everyone who stopped by to browse, buy and take photos (seriously, if I see photos of my hiney on Facebook someone is going to get it :)
